Tamil Nadu wins four gold medals in SGFI squash

Tamil Nadu won four gold medals and one silver in the team events of the squash competition in the School Games of India National Competition held at the Indian Squash Academy here. 

Nine state/ unit  teams took part in this event, which was inaugurated by the State Minister for school Education, Mr K.C. Veeramani.  The teams were, apart from Tamil Nadu, Assam, Delhi,  CBSE Welfare board, Goa, Maharashtra, IPSC, Gujarat and Vidya Bharathi.  Competitions were in U-14, 17 and 19 categories for boys and girls.

Fresh from her campaign in the South Asian Games in Guwahati,  Sunayna Kuruvilla added value to the State U-19 team, which won the gold. Other members of the side were Ashita Pranaya Bhengra, M. Kiruttigha, Nehaarika Balamurukan and  Jeffrey Bianca.

Tamil Nadu’s other gold medals came in U-17 and U-19 boys’ and U-17 girls’ sections.  The U-17 boys’ team comprised P Shankaran, G. Yashwanth Ragav,  S. Shri Hari,  Bhuvan Uthaiah. M and Aryan Steve Rybin and girls side had   S. Rathika,  J.S. Krithica,  Samita. S,  M. Thulasi Mathi and S.P. Moni Rhithikka. The U-19 boys gold medalists were  Karan Navin Rathore,  R.A. Charaniya Selvan,  N. Chola Rajan,  S. S. Sesanth Varadhan and Akash.

The silver medal came in the girls U-14 section.

Boys: U-19: 1. Tamil Nadu 2. Delhi, 3. Maharashtra; U-17: 1. Tamil Nadu, 2. Maharashtra, 3. Delhi; U-14: 1. Delhi; 2. Maharashtra, 3. Goa
