5 Indian Athletes who might have played their last Olympics ft. Manpreet Singh & Sharath Kamal
Paris 2024 Olympics has seen a young Indian contingent where as many as 72 out of 117 athletes made their debut. This does not discount the immense experience some of the Indian athletes are carrying along with them.
Many Olympians have competed several times before, and this might have been the last time they participated in the tournament. A good mix of experience with energetic and fearless youth has made a pretty balanced Indian contingent.
Manpreet Singh
Prepping up for the last hurrah, the ex-Indian Skipper Manpreet Singh, certainly brought glory in the Tokyo Olympics as he led the team to a bronze medal.
However, as this can be the last Olympic Games of his career, he would surely try to push his team for another bronze medal and bring the dominance India once held in the sport.
Sharath Kamal
The Indian table tennis sensation and probably the most experienced Olympian of the Indian lot, Sharath Kamal went in for his record fifth Olympics at the age of 42. This would very well be his last as he announced the same a couple of days before the start of the tournament.
He did try to go all-out with his farewell tournament as he looked to add an Olympic Games medal to an already star-studded cabinet of his career but the fate had different plans as he was not successful in doing so.
Rohan Bopanna
Bopanna has been causing tremors worldwide with a miraculous run in the last few years. Ageing like a fine wine, the 44-year-young superstar appeared in his third Olympics after having missed out on the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
He already made records by being world No. 1 in doubles tennis ranking and winning the Australian Open. This Olympics was the last from the Champ as he announced a couple of days ago. He has been continuing to surprise everyone with his performances recently but this event could not be another such miracle from him.
PV Sindhu
India’s ace shuttler and the only athlete to bring back medals for the consecutive past two editions of the tournament, PV Sindhu has been an athlete the entire India has depended upon.
Entering her third Olympic Games with a silver and a bronze in her previous two attempts, she was expected by the entire nation to bring in another this year. However, she was not able to do so. Having already been 29, this attempt may as well turn out to be the last attempt at the biggest stage of all.
PR Sreejesh
The pillar of the Indian Hockey Team for the last several years and extremely famous in the Hockey circuit for his unbelievable instincts, India’s goalie, PR Sreejesh has announced that he has prepared for his last dance.
With only an Olympic Gold eluding him, the 36-year-old was pumped and excited to give his best in his last Olympics appearance and certainly make it the most memorable one ever. However, he was not able to win a gold for his team but he surely would be remembered for his insane saves and would want to go out with another bronze medal.
