5 players who have competed in three or more Olympic Games ft. PR Sreejesh & PV Sindhu
Paris 2024 Olympic Games is about to come to an end and India had their largest contingent since the Tokyo 2020 Olympics (121 athletes) with a total of 117 athletes. 70 men and 47 women are competing in 16 sport disciplines in 69 events for a total of 95 medals.
While 72 of these athletes are making their debut this year, the Indian contingent surely has some players who have enough experience under their belt and have played three or more Olympics already.
PR Sreejesh
Already a three-time Olympian, PR Sreejesh has been an integral part of the Indian team for almost two decades now. Making his debut well over in the year of 2006, he boasts a wonderful record of having played 328 international matches representing the nation.
Sreejesh has achieved almost everything including an Olympic Games medal in the previous edition. Having experienced four Olympics, he has easily been the most important player in the Indian team's setup being the team's wall.
PV Sindhu
The daughter of national-level volleyball players and the student of the Indian legend Pullela Gopichand, Puserla Venkata Sindhu famously known as PV Sindhu has helped put India on the badminton map.
She is only the second Indian Athlete having won back-to-back Olympic Games medals. Already having secured a bronze and a silver, she had her eyes on the gold this time creating a hat-trick of medals and being the first Indian athlete to do so but was unfortunate to have missed out on that.
Sharath Kamal
Achanta Sharath Kamal, born on July 12, 1982, in the Capital city of Tamil Nadu, can arguably be the best Table Tennis player India has ever produced. His records speak for him with two Asian Games Medals, seven Commonwealth Golds, and two ITTF Pro Tour titles under his belt.
He went in for a record fifth Olympic Games, having already represented the nation in the previous four editions of the tournament. Apart from being one of the biggest superstars in the Indian Contingent for the Paris Olympic Games, he was also the flag-bearer for the Indian Nation in the opening ceremony.
Manpreet Singh
Bagging the bronze at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Manpreet Singh broke the 41-year-old Olympic Games Medal drought in the country as he led the side from the front.
Hailing from the city of Jalandhar which has produced numerous hockey stars, Manpreet was surely a blessing for the nation which just had forgotten how to win medals in the sport they used to dominate.
Deepika Kumari
Deepika Kumari, a bit of an unheard name when it comes to discussing the Olympics, has been a megastar for India otherwise. Whether it be World Championships, World Cups, Asian Championships, Asian Games, or Commonwealth Games, she has achieved everything there is to be achieved except the glimmering medal of the Olympic Games.
Having twice entered the tournament as ranked 1st, she still has not been able to convert her talent into a fruitful result at the highest level so far.
