5 most unique horse names in Equestrian at Paris 2024 Olympics ft. Breakdance

The equestrian events for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris had 200 riders competing in three disciplines—dressage, eventing, and jumping—both individually and in teams.

On an equal footing, men and women compete together. What sometimes seems astonishing are the names of the horses they choose for these events. There have been some really unique names for these horses in the past Olympics.

Let's take a look at some of the most unique horse names participating in the event this year.


1) Breakdance

Aleksandra Szulc, the 37-year-old rider from Poland, participated in the equestrian at the Olympics for the first time. She appeared for dressage team & individual events and rode a horse named Breakdance.

He is a gelding male, born in 2011 and is grey. Studbook for Polish Wielkopolska Horses is his breed and Przepiora Joanna has groomed him.


2) Shadow Man

Christopher Burton, a 42-year-old equestrian rider from Australia, has already competed in the Olympics twice (2012 & 2016). He even won a bronze at Rio 2016 for the team event.

He rode a 14-year-old Belgian Warmblood Studbook named Shadow Man. He is a chestnut horse and was ridden by Ben Hobday until 2022.


3) Enjoy

Sanne de Jong is a first-time Olympian who represented the Netherlands at the Paris Summer Olympics. She rode a 15-year-old mare named Enjoy, whom she had from her teenage years. Enjoy is a grey Royal Warmblood Studbook of the Netherlands mare and has been groomed by Jantien van Zong.


4) Nutcracker

Elisabeth Halliday is a 45-year-old female horseback rider from the United States of America. She made her Olympics debut after pulling out of the Tokyo Olympic Games due to an injury to her horse, Nutcracker.

He is a 10-year-old gelding black male of the Irish Sport Horse Studbook breed. He has been groomed by Steger Abigail.


5) Cash in Hand

Noor Slaoui is the first Moroccan equestrian rider to compete internationally in eventing. She is also the only female athlete qualified for Paris 2024 in eventing from the Middle East and North Africa. She is riding a stallion named Cash in Hand. He is an 11-year-old grey Irish Sport Horse Studbook and has been groomed by Rosalind McClelland.
