India equestrian schedule for Paris 2024 Olympics: Complete player list, dates, timing, telecast

Equestrian is an important sport in the Summer Games and the reason behind it is although it is believed to be an individual sport, it is actually a team of two entities who ensure success - the horse and its rider. The upcoming Paris Olympics 2024 will mark the first ever occasion where India will take part in the dressage discipline of equestrian sports.

Usually, in the past, there have been athletes who have plied their trade at the showpiece event in equestrian sports but the involvement had been limited to only the eventing discipline.

Notably, India is yet to secure a medal in equestrian at the Summer Games. The first Indian participation in the sport came in 1980. With time, top riders like Jitendrajit Singh Ahluwalia, Hussain Singh, Mohammed Khan, and Dariya Singh were part of the Games. In the years to come, riders like Indrajit Lamba (Atlanta Olympics 1996) and Imtiaz Anees (Sydney Olympics 2000) entered the scenario.

The Tokyo Olympics in 2021 saw Fouaad Mirza represent India and this time out it will be young Anush Agarwalla who'll take the field against some of the world's best riders. Agarwalla is coached by former Olympian and also a gold-medalist Hubertus Schmidt.

After winning a bronze on an individual level and a gold with his team at the Hangzhou Asian Games, Agarwalla is all set to create history at the Paris Olympics.
