Abhinav Bindra bestowed with Olympic Order for outstanding services to Olympic Movement

2008 Olympics gold medalist Abhinav Bindra has received the prestigious Olympic Order from the International Olympic Committee. IOC President Thomas Bach wrote a letter to Bindra's address, informing him about the Olympic Order conferred to him for his outstanding work in the Olympic Movement.

The Olympic Order is the highest award presented by the IOC. The Committee honors the individuals who work for the betterment of Olympics, achieve big in the sports world or provide fantastic services for the cause of Olympics with this award.

India's Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya shared the letter sent from IOC to Bindra and congratulated the legendary Indian shooter for the achievement.

"Congratulations to @Abhinav_Bindra on being awarded the Olympic Order for outstanding contributions to the Olympic Movement! His achievement fills us with pride and is truly well-deserved. His name alone has inspired generations of shooters and Olympians," Mandaviya wrote on X.

Reacting to the words of praise from Mansukh Mandaviya, Abhinav Bindra replied to him on X:

"Many thanks Sir for your kind words."

Abhinav Bindra to receive Olympic Order on August 10 in Paris

The IOC has planned the award ceremony to take place on August 10, which is one day before the Olympics 2024 conclude in Paris. Abhinav Bindra will likely be present in Paris to receive the Olympic Order. The 142nd IOC Session will also happen on August 10 in Paris.

Bindra etched his name in the history books when he won the gold medal for India in the men's 10m air rifle event at the 2008 Olympics hosted by Beijing. After that, he joined the Athlete Committee of International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) as a member in 2010 and then became the chairman in 2014. He has also been a member of the IOC Athlete Commission for six years now.
