Aman Sehrawat becomes India's all-time youngest medallist at Olympics
Wrestler Aman Sehrawat will be beaming with pride after becoming India's youngest-ever Olympic medallist at the Paris 2024 Olympics. The 21-year-old achieved the feat by winning the bronze medal in Paris in the men's 57 kg freestyle category.
Sehrawat defeated Puerto Rico’s Darian Cruz, 13-5, in a well-fought bronze medal contest in Paris. By doing so, he overtook shuttler P.V. Sindhu, the previous youngest to do so until Aman's accomplishment. He was 21 years, zero months, and 24 days old when he won his bout on August 9.
The wrestler from Haryana celebrated his 21st birthday in July. Sindhu had previously held the title of India's youngest-ever Olympic medallist with a silver medal win at the 2016 Rio Olympics. She was 21 years, one month and 14 days old when she clinched the second-place finish in Rio.
With his emphatic win, Aman brought India one of its six medals at the Summer Games so far. As a young rising star, the wrestler showed great composure under pressure to triumph in the all-important bout.

Aman Sehrawat, a student of the famed Chhatrasal Stadium, has proved his pedigree at the Paris Olympics 2024. The youngster was a sight to behold, as he competed with conviction and focus.
Sehrawat was spectacular, beginning his campaign in Paris with a convincing victory. In the Round of 16, he defeated Vladimir Egorov of North Macedonia 10-0. He went on to win the quarterfinals 12-0 over Albania's Zelimkhan Abakanov.
However, Sehrawat was defeated in his semifinal bout, losing 10-0 against Rei Higuchi of Japan. However, Aman didn't lose focus as he made a roaring comeback.
For the bronze medal match, he showed great tactical skills to overcome an initial one-point deficit. After a closely fought first half, Aman Sehrawat clinched the match with a dominant display of wrestling in the second half to win the bronze.
