Aman Sehrawat reaches men's wrestling 57kg semi-finals with resounding win over Zelimkhan Abakarov at Paris 2024 Olympics

India’s Aman Sehrawat continued his dominant run at the Paris Olympics 2024, overpowering Albania’s Zelimkhan Abakarov with a decisive 11-0 victory in the wrestling quarter-finals. His win, marked by yet another technical superiority (a win without conceding a single point), saw him reach the semi-finals which will take place later today (August 8).

The match began with both wrestlers cautiously testing each other's defences. Aman sought an early opening but found Zelimkhan’s initial defence tough to break through. The Albanian wrestler, however, soon faced a warning for passivity, allowing Aman to gain momentum.

As Zelimkhan failed to score within the 30-second passivity warning period, Aman capitalized by securing the first point and quickly followed it up by pinning down his opponent for an additional two points, ending the first half with a 3-0 lead.

The second half of the bout saw a brief halt as Zelimkhan received medical attention, giving Aman a moment to strategize. With only three minutes left to secure his victory, Aman returned to the mat with renewed focus.

Aman Sehrawat wasted no time in taking control, executing a brilliant double ankle hold that brought the Albanian down. Aman then delivered a series of quick feat-lays, extending his lead to an insurmountable 11-0. The bout concluded with Aman winning by technical superiority.
