Arshad Nadeem makes stop in Istanbul on his way back to Pakistan from Paris Olympics 2024

Pakistan's javelin thrower, Arshad Nadeem, touched down in Istanbul on Saturday, August 10, on his journey back to his country. The javelin thrower is returning from a successful performance in the Paris 2024 Olympics. He will arrive in Lahore, Pakistan, in the early hours of Sunday, August 11.

Arshad reached the Turkish Capital on Saturday evening along with his coach, Salman Butt. Muhammad Akram Sahi, who is the Chairman of South Asian Athletics, will also accompany him on his return trip to Pakistan.

Arshad will return home to a warm welcome after earning the coveted gold medal in Paris. Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan's Prime Minister, will greet the 27-year-old at the airport in Lahore.

The new face of the javelin throw is all set to be conferred with the Hilal-e-Imtiaz, one of the highest civilian honors in Pakistan. He will be bestowed with the award by the President of the country, Asif Ali Zardari.


Arshad Nadeem breaks the Olympic world record on his way to a historic gold medal at the Paris Olympics 2024

Arshad Nadeem achieved multiple feats during his sensational first-place finish at the Summer Games in Paris. With a throw of 92.97 m, the javelin thrower broke the Olympic world record for the longest throw in the history of the quadrennial event.

The Pakistani broke the 90-barrier twice in his six attempts during the men's javelin throw final on August 8. Apart from the throw that won him the gold, which came in his second attempt, he also recorded 91.79 m in his last attempt. Nadeem also became the first individual athlete from Pakistan to win an Olympic gold.

Arshad Nadeem was followed by India's Neeraj Chopra in the second position. Chopra, the 2020 Tokyo Olympics gold medallist, recorded a throw of 89.45 m in his second attempt to clinch silver. Grenada's Anderson Peters took the bronze with a throw of 88.54 m.
