Asian Canoe Sprint Olympic Qualifier 2024: Prachi Yadav and Shabana finish day 4 with gold medals for India
On the final day of the Asian Canoe Sprint Olympic Qualifier 2024, the Indian athletes participated in a total of four events. One out of these four events was the qualifier for the Paris Olympics 2024.
Gyaneshwor Singh Philem was the only Indian athlete who had a chance to qualify for the Paris Olympics 2024. He participated in the final of the C1 Men 1000m event. However, he finished in last place with a time of 04:44.125 and missed a chance to qualify for the Olympics.
Prachi Yadav, Pooja Garg, and Sonalben Ratilal Vasoya were a part of the final of the VL2 Women 200m event. Prachi won the gold medal and finished with a time of 01:04.603. Pooja and Sonalben finished in the last two places with times of 01:33.122 and 01:46.391, respectively.
Manish Kaurav and Rajesh Netaji Pawar finished the KL3 Men 200 final event with silver and bronze medals, respectively. Manish had a time of 00:46.522. Rajesh finished in third place and had a time of 00:48.547.
Shabana and Sangeeta Rajput were the only two participants in the final of the VL3 Women event. Shabana won the gold medal in the race with a time of 01:11.575. Sangeeta missed the gold medal by 0.559 seconds. She won the silver medal with a time of 01:12.133.
Indian athletes finish the Asian Para-canoe Championships 2024 with 20 medals
The Indian athletes had a great time at the Paracanoe Asian Championships 2024. They won nine gold, seven silver, and four bronze medals. The team finished in first place in the event.
Japan finished second in the championship with just eight medals to its name. Thailand won two medals and finished third. South Korea won just a single medal and finished fourth.
In the Asian Canoe Sprint Olympic Qualifier 2024, India finished in 10th rank and managed just a single bronze medal. Megha Pradeep won the only medal for the country in the C1 500m event.
