Chinese contingent pose for photos in their new outfit ahead of the Paris Olympics 2024

Paris Olympics 2024 will see new outfits for the Chinese contingent. The Chinese Olympic Committee (COC) on Tuesday revealed the new outfit for the Chinese Athletes, which they will be wearing at the Medal ceremony of the Paris Olympics 2024.

China is one of the strongest countries when it comes to the Olympics, and thus, athletes from the country are always in the spotlight for their medal tally.

The ceremony took place in Beijing, where the official name of the outfit was also disclosed as "Champions Dragon Outfit." The outfit has elements of the Chinese zodiac dragon. The outfit is designed while taking into consideration Chinese culture and values. It has classic Chinese tailoring and a color combination of white and red.

"The Year of the Dragon is very auspicious for Chinese people. The dragon-themed outfit is unique, and I hope to wear it on the Paris Olympic podium," Li Quan - the two-time Olympic Medalist in Middleweight Boxing, expressed her views to the media.

Quan won a silver and a bronze medal for China in the Tokyo Olympics and Rio de Janeiro Olympics, respectively.

She also shared the details of the training plan of the athletes. Quan said that the authorities have designed a systematic training plan to make sure that the athletes are prepared for the Paris Olympics 2024. Quan will be appearing for her third consecutive Olympic event in Paris and she will be eyeing to add to the medal tally for the country.

Chinese Contingent's Paris Olympics 2024 outfits labeled sexist on social media

As China revealed their Paris Olympics 2024 outfits, social media labelled the outfits as 'sexist'. The netizens labelled the outfits as “backward gender awareness."

The Chinese athletes will be wearing the outfits during the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics. The outfits were revealed on Tuesday, but by Thursday, users on Xiaohongshu - a Chinese version of Instagram, expressed their disappointment and called the outfits sexist.

“The problem with this set is not just that it’s ugly, the real problem is the backward gender awareness that adds to the already scarce aesthetics,” a post from a user went viral at Xiaohongshu.

Netizens are disappointed that the world is not classifying men and women on the basis of their dress but the Chinese authorities are still doing the discrimination with trousers for men and skirts for women.
