Coach Sundeep Verma to accompany Gaganjeet Bhullar to the Paris Olympics 2024

Sundeep Verma will be accompanying Gaganjeet Bhullar for the 2024 Paris Olympics as his coach. Sundeep has worked as a coach and clubmaker for several renowned athletes namely Siddikur Rahman, Shubhankar Sharma, Shiv Kapoor, Himmat Rai Singh, SSP Chawrasia, Jeev Milkha Singh, and Anirban Lahiri.

He is now all set for his third stint in the Olympics after he accompanied Chawrasia in 2016 and Diksha Dagar in 2021.

Gaganjeet Bhullar, who will be making his Olympics debut, is a part of India’s four-member golf team also including Diksha, Aditi Ashok, and Shubhankar Sharma. Bhullar, who has also won the Asian Tour Championship 11 times, was delighted with Sundeep’s appointment as the coach.

“It was quite natural to pick Sundeep as my coach. He has worked with me during my early professional days. I used to look at him for advice regarding my golf swing and customization of clubs as per my BMI and posture,” Gaganjeet Bhullar said, as quoted by a SAI media release.

Apart from playing, Bhullar also plied his trade in training, having trained the amateur golf team in the Eisenhower Trophy in 2022. Bhullar also backed Sundeep to bring forth all his experience and help him perform well in the upcoming quadrennial event.

“He has already been to the venue of the event twice and his observations will come in handy for me. He also guided SSP and Diksha during the last two Olympic Games and understand the nuances of the game and how to handle pressure at a stage like this,” Bhullar added.

The men’s hockey event will take place from August 1 to August 4 at the Le Golf National. India are yet to win a medal in golf in the history of the Olympics. In Tokyo three years ago, Aditi came close to winning a medal but fell out of the top three to finish fourth.
