Confidence among the Indian team is high, says Rhythm Sangwan as Indian shooters gear up for Paris 2024 Olympics
Indian shooter Rhythm Sangwan has been training with her coach Vineet Kumar to prepare for the upcoming Paris Olympics 2024. Talking about their consistent performance over the years on the global stage, she believes that the "confidence among the Indian team is high."
Rhythm Sangwan bagged her quota for the Paris Olympics 2024 earlier in January this year. She won the bronze medal in the women's 25m pistol event at the Asian Shooting Championships in Jakarta. The Paris Olympics 2024 will be held from July 26 to August 11.
"I am very excited (for Paris Olympics). It is the biggest stage out there. Very thrilled to be there," she said to ANI at the launch of the Indian Olympic contingent's official ceremonial and playing kit launch in Delhi.
She also spoke about her and the team's preparations ahead of the Games.
"The preparations are going good. We are all working hard. I have been working with my coach Vinit Kumar personally. We are both working hard and looking forward to the Games," she said.
"The confidence is high because the shooters have been doing great for the past few years, doing well on the international stage," the Indian shooter added.
Rhythm Sangwan feels 'backed up' with support from NRAI
One of the rising stars of Indian shooting, Rhythm Sangwan also spoke about the support from the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) and the Indian Olympic Association (IOA). She said that the team feels "very backed up" in terms of the support received.
Rhythm has secured five International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup medals so far. These include three gold medals as well. Moreover, she also won the gold medal in the 25m pistol team at the ISSF World Championships in Baku last year.
The NRAI announced a final 21-member shooting team for the Paris 2024 Olympics in June after the ISSF accepted their request for a quota swap. Shreyasi Singh was added to the team, who will now start alongside Rajeshwari Kumari.
