Dark clouds of COVID-19 loom over the Paris Olympics 2024

Paris Olympics 2024 has hit with a blow as COVID-19 strikes. One of the Australian water polo players has been tested positive for the virus. As soon as the player tested positive, he was isolated by the authorities to make sure that the virus didn't spread more than other participants. The incident took place 48 hours before the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics 2024.

The good news for the organizing committee is that as of now it is the first case and there are no other reports of athletes being tested positive for the virus. Anna Meares - the chief of Australia's Olympic team has confirmed the news. He has also confirmed that the other players are also being tested and are under observation for any symptoms of the virus.

Australia's Olympic team Chief Meares also confirmed that the water polo team is continuing their training for the event as per the schedule and there are no changes made in their routine. She also added that the current case and any future cases of COVID-19 will be treated as any other flu.

The news comes on Tuesday and the opening ceremony is scheduled to take place on Thursday. If the outbreak happens before or during the Paris Olympics 2024, it will also affect the preparations of the whole event. The Olympics Organizing committee from Paris is also keeping a close watch on the same and they are ready to take necessary steps for the same.

What will Happen if an athlete tested positive for COVID-19 at Paris Olympics 2024?

There are necessary precautions which are taken by the organizing committee to make sure the outbreak doesn't happen during the Olympics. Even if after so many precautions, any athlete is tested positive for the virus, the first step will be to keep the player in complete isolation and provide necessary treatment if the case becomes serious.

In the recent case of the Australian Water Polo Team, Chief Mears mentioned that they would wait for clearance from the team's medical staff. The impact of COVID-19 on health has been reduced drastically in the last two years, but the probability of the spread of the virus still remains high.

The French Health Minister has also spoken to the press to ensure that there is nothing to worry about regarding the spread of the disease. The memory of shifting the Tokyo Olympics to 2021 from 2020 is still fresh and the authorities don't want to repeat the same in the Paris Olympics 2024.
