Diksha Dagar set to defend her title at the 2024 Tipsport Czech Ladies Open
Indian golfer Diksha Dagar is poised to defend her title at the 2024 Tipsport Czech Ladies Open, starting Friday, June 21. Dagar, a prominent figure on the Ladies European Tour (LET), is the only Indian player with over 100 appearances in the LET.
The 23-year-old clinched the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open title in 2023, marking her second LET title, and she is now set to return to the Royal Beroun Golf Club to aim for consecutive victories.
"It's always amazing to be back here as a defending champion because it is a very rare opportunity to defend your title, and it's a new challenge for me. I would love to win again. If I can do that, it will be a mark off my bucket list. I remember on the second day I played seven-under; I remember every shot and every hole because it was very precious to me," said Dagar (via LET).
Diksha Dagar will have her father, Narinder, by her side as a caddie, a partnership that adds a special touch to her title defense.
"It is always a special moment having your parent on your bag, especially your family. This year, he will be my caddie, and he also knows about the course well. It's going to be so exciting for us," she added.
Diksha Dagar on the verge of qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympics
The 2024 Tipsport Czech Ladies Open also presents an ideal opportunity for Diksha Dagar to prepare for the Paris 2024 Olympics. The golfer from Haryana is currently ranked 40th in the Olympic ranks by the International Golf Federation (IGF). An official confirmation of her qualification is expected on Monday, June 21, where Dagar is anticipated to qualify alongside Aditi Ashok, who is ranked 24th.
For those unfamiliar, Dagar is the only player to have competed in both the Summer Olympics and the Deaflympics. She participated in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and won two medals in the Deaflympics - a silver in 2017 and a gold in 2022.
As Dagar heads into the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open, her focus will be on both defending her title and fine-tuning her game for the upcoming Olympic challenge.
