“Ghar pe bait ke comment karna easy hai and sports khelna difficult” - Saina Nehwal reacts to “Kangana of sports” troll comment
Saina Nehwal, the three-time Olympian, was quick to react to a ‘Kangana of sports’ troll comment on X. For the unversed, Saina made the headlines after stating that she was unaware of javelin throw as a sport until Neeraj Chopra won a gold medal for India at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
However, this comment from Saina didn’t go down well with a lot of Indian fans as they trolled the Indian shuttler. Some termed her as Kangana Ranaut of sports. Reacting to these comments, Saina Nehwal came up with a strong reply.
Saina took to X to emphasize that it’s easy to comment while sitting at home but playing a sport is difficult. She highlighted her achievements of Olympic medal and World No.1 ranking. She also added that Neeraj Chopra is India’s superstar, who made the sport popular in India.
“Thanks for the compliment.. Kangana is beautiful…but I had to be perfect in my sport and I proudly achieved world number 1 and Olympic medal in badminton for my country …again I will say this ghar pe bait ke comment karna easy hai and sports khelna difficult. Neeraj is our super star and he made the sport so popular in India,” Saina Nehwal tweeted.
What exactly did Saina Nehwal state?
The London Olympics 2012 bronze medallist shuttler Saina Nehwal was part of a podcast with journalist Shubhankar Mishra when she stated that she wasn’t aware of the sport until Neeraj Chopra hogged the limelight with his gold medal.
"When Neeraj won, that is when I got to know about athletics has got this game too. You'll gain knowledge only when you see it, right? If you don't see, how will you know? I did not know about javelin throw. Frankly, I didn't know," she said in the podcast.
It’s important to note that Neeraj Chopra rose to prominence when he secured the Junior World Championships gold medal in 2016. Furthermore, he also secured gold medals at the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games in 2018.
