"Gold kab milega" - Fans express disappointment after Aman Sehrawat's crushing loss in wrestling semifinal at Paris OIympics 2024

India suffered yet another heartbreak in wrestling at the Paris 2024 Olympics, with Aman Sehrawat losing his semifinal bout. He succumbed to a 10-0 defeat to Japan's Rei Higuchi in the men's 57kg freestyle category. The result ends Aman's hopes for an Olympic gold or silver medal.

However, the 21-year-old, will still have the chance to win a bronze medal in Paris.

In his semifinal bout on August 8, the Indian wrestler was completely outplayed by the top seed of men's 57kg category. The Japanese wrestler gave Aman no scope of settling into the match or competing.

Aman ended the bout without scoring a single point. Indian supporters have since expressed their disappointment at Aman's loss. Several fans have shared their discontent at the youngster's performance.

While many lamented the Indian's loss, a few also backed the wrestler to bring home the bronze from Paris. Fans took to the social media platform X (Twitter) to express their views and share their feelings.

"What? It finished like that? How? #Wrestling #AmanSehrawat," wrote a fan.
"Aman aaye, Aman gaye," commented a user.
"Aakhir gold kab milega. Aman Haar gaye," another fan said.
"It was too quick a match! By the time, you grabbed a water bottle from refrigerator, it was over!#AmanSehrawat opponent was beyond extraordinary!" a fan commented.
"We are in bronze age.. one more candidate for bronze in male wrestling... #AmanSehrawat You played well but Japanese guy was excellent in today's match. No doubt," expressed a user.
"Koi baat nhi Aman...abhi mauka hai. Go for bronze, champ," a supporter commented.

Aman Sehrawat impresses in maiden Olympics appearance

Though Aman Sehrawat failed to win his semifinal bout, the wrestler from Haryana impressed many with his performance at the Paris Olympics 2024. The 21-year-old was very dominant up until the semifinal bout.

Earlier in the day, Aman won his Round-of-16 bout. The Indian wrestler defeated Macedonian wrestler Vladimir Egorov 10-0. He then won his quarter-final bout 12-0 against Albanian wrestler Zelimkhan Abakarov. Unfortunately, Aman could not pass the test in the next round.

Aman Sehrawat will now be competing in the bronze-medal match against Darian Toi Cruz of Puerto Rico on Friday (August 9).
