"He is a legend" - PR Sreejesh hails Neeraj Chopra post his silver medal win in javelin throw final at Paris Olympics 2024
Ace hockey player, PR Sreejesh, showered praise on Neeraj Chopra post his silver medal triumph in the javelin throw at the Paris 2024 Olympics. The Indian men's hockey team goalkeeper was among the many Indians who have been sending congratulatory messages to the star javelin thrower.
Neeraj won the silver medal after recording an 89.45m throw in his second attempt. With the win, Neeraj has added consecutive Olympic medals to his cabinet.
Sreejesh heaped praise on Chopra by calling him a 'great icon' for the youth. The 36-year-old expressed that he was certain about Neeraj finishing on the podium but somewhere expected a gold medal. He told JioCinema:
"There was one thing we were absolutely sure about that Neeraj will win a medal for India for sure. I was expecting a gold medal but anyways finishing on the podium in track and field I think he is a legend. Definitely a great icon for the youth and the young generation."
Earlier in the day, PR Sreejesh himself won a bronze medal for India with the men's hockey team. India defeated Spain 2-1 to clinch a consecutive second Olympic medal in hockey.
Neeraj Chopra loses gold medal to Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem
Most people who follow javelin throw were expecting Neeraj Chopra to shine at the Paris Olympics 2024. The gold medallist from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics was being backed to repeat history in Paris. However, Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem had other plans in store.
Nadeem performed beyond expectations with an Olympic record throw of 92.97m to clinch the gold from Neeraj. Chopra on the other hand recorded his best throw of 89.45m, which won him the silver medal. Interestingly, the Indian's throw in his second attempt was his only throw out of all five attempts that was registered.
Though Neeraj Chopra would have loved to win the gold medal in Paris, his fans and supporters have been applauding the young star on another incredible achievement.
