The 2024 Olympics in Paris began on July 26. The opening ceremony was held on the same day. The Summer Games will go on till August 11, with the closing ceremony taking place on the same day. Thus, the Games will be held across 17 days.

This was the first time in the history of the Olympics that the opening ceremony was held in an open arena. River Seine, located in the heart of the French capital, hosted the event. Athletes from across the globe were assigned boats to parade for a stretch of six kilometers. A total of 94 boats were used for the ceremony, with more than 10,500 athletes representing 206 nations.

The closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics will take place on August 11 at Stade de France. It will include parades of athletes with the respective flags of the nation and victory ceremonies. In the previous edition of the Olympics in Tokyo, the closing ceremony lasted more than two hours.

The Olympics in Paris are organized with some innovations for the spectators as well. There were flying cabs present at the River Seine during the opening ceremony. The whole city will be in a festive vibe for 17 days of the Olympics schedule.


Overview of the schedule of the 2024 Olympics in Paris

The Paris Olympics 2024 began on July 26. Swimming will take place in the first week of the games from July 27 through August 4. Track and field events will take place from August 1 to 11. The last athletic event will be the Marathon.

On the next day of the opening ceremony Artistic Gymnastics, Badminton, Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Boxing, Canoe Slalom, and Tennis kicked off. The major attraction on the first day was beach volleyball as it took place right in the center of the city near the Eiffel Tower.

On the last day of the Olympics, basketball, handball, modern pentathlon, volleyball, water polo, weightlifting, and wrestling will take place. Once these events are over, the closing ceremony of the Olympics will begin.
