“I don’t feel any pressure" - Shooter Sarabjot Singh is geared up for his Olympic debut at Paris 2024
Shooter Sarabjot Singh is all set to make his debut in the Paris Olympics 2024. He will be competing in the 10m air pistol at the big event.
Sarabjot will be eyeing to add to the medal tally for India on his debut. In an interview with Sportstar, the 22-year-old expressed his views on his upcoming challenge in the Paris Olympics 2024.
“I don’t feel any pressure. I am giving my best, don’t feel low, don’t feel anything related to the Olympics," said Sarabjot during the interview while talking about his preparations for the big event.
He also said that to achieve his goals, he needs to go through tough training, and the goals motivate him.
Sarabjot is currently ranked as the world number 14. He was World Junior Champion in 2021 in an individual and mixed team. He again hopes to do well and added that he enjoys training with Manu Bhaker.
“We (Manu and I) talk a lot, it’s fun. We train well together...I am going in the right direction,” Sarabjot Singh added.
Sarabjot is currently training in Luxembourg with the rest of the shooting team from India. With three World Cup gold medals on his name (2023 & 2024), Sarabjot is currently getting trained by Abhishek Rana who will be in Paris to motivate Singh.
Sarabjot Singh and his journey to Olympic qualification
Born in Ambala, Barara block, Haryana, Sarabjot comes from a family of farmers. His father is a farmer, and Hardeep Kaur - his mother is a homemaker. Sarabjot completed his studies in Chandigarh and got into shooting at an Academy in Central Phoenix Club under Abhishek Rana.
His training started giving positive results, and in 2019, Sarabjot's first big achievement came into the picture. In the ISSF Junior World Cup, Sarabjot won the Gold Medal. This gave him the confidence for the upcoming challenges.
He participated in the World Championship and won gold in individual and Team performance. At this moment, Sarabjot started looking forward to going to Paris for the Olympics in 2024.
In 2023, Sarabjot was part of the 3-member team in the 10m air pistol during the World Cup, and the team again came out as the Gold Medal winners. Sarabjot also has won a silver and gold medal at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou.
