“I am prepared for any challenge as it comes” - Pistol shooter Esha Singh ahead of Paris Olympics 2024
Pistol shooter Esha Singh has insisted that she is prepared for any challenge that comes her way in the forthcoming Paris Olympics 2024. Esha, hailing from Hyderabad, will take part in the Women’s 25m pistol event alongside Manu Bhaker in Paris 2024.
The 19-year-old shooter will be one of the youngest competitors at the Summer Games in Paris. Nevertheless, she remains undaunted and is up for one of the most challenging events of her career with a good wealth of international experience under her belt.
“Yes, I am very, very excited with the Olympics being so close now. But I wouldn’t think it will be tough for I have been going through the same experience in terms of preparations as I have been going through for all the international events over the years. So, I am prepared for any challenge as it comes,” Esha Singh told Sportstar.
“Honestly, I get a feeling as if I have just started the sport” - Esha Singh
With only a few days remaining before the start of the Paris Olympics 2024, Esha is back home to spend some quality time with her parents. She was recently part of a training camp in Luxembourg. The focus of her preparations now is fine-tuning the basics, she emphasized.
“I wouldn’t want to debate on the kind of competition that will be there or on my own prospects. But I would definitely like to keep the preparations as simple as possible. The focus is on definitely fine-tuning the basics. Honestly, I get a feeling as if I have just started the sport,” Esha said.
Furthermore, she said she is really happy to have the opportunity to represent the country in an Olympics that many didn’t get to. However, she stated that she doesn’t feel pressure or expectations from people as she loves to enjoy the sport to make things fall in place.
India will be having a record number of 21 shooters in the forthcoming Olympics. As the shooting contingent won 20-plus medals for India at the Asian Games in 2023, Esha Singh hopes the current shooting contingent will put on a good show in Paris too.
