"I will try not to think about Tokyo" - Neeraj Chopra wants to forget previous gold medal win & stay in the present for Paris 2024 Olympics
Neeraj Chopra has said that he wants to focus fully on the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics javelin throw final. The javelin throw star does not want to keep thinking about his historic gold medal win in Tokyo Olympics three years ago.
Earlier today (August 6), Neeraj Chopra qualified for the final of the men's javelin throw event at Paris 2024 Olympics by clearing the 84m distance in his first attempt itself. Neeraj's throw covered a distance of 89.34m, which is why he is the favorite to retain the gold medal.
Speaking with Olympic Khel after qualifying for the final, Neeraj shared his thoughts and said:
"I tried to perfect my first throw in the qualification round, but not only me, others also threw very well. The final is going to be tough. Tokyo 2020 was great, but I will try to focus on the final and do well. I will try not to think about Tokyo 2020, which will be difficult, but I will focus on the day and my throw because the more I focus and stay in the moment, the better."
Several Indian fans attending the Olympics live in Paris cheered for Neeraj while he gave the interview. Neeraj mentioned in the chat that the final match was still pending.
