Amidst this, the Department of Posts has released a set of commemorative postage stamps to celebrate the Paris Olympics. India's heroics at the Paris Olympics 2024 and further medal chances
India has already won three bronze medals so far at the Paris Olympics 2024. The first one was brought home by Manu Bhaker, who excelled in the women's 10m air pistol event. A few days post this feat, she teamed up with Sarabjot Singh to fetch India another medal, this time in the mixed 10m air pistol discipline.
India's third medal came through Swapnil Kusale, who participated in the 50m rifle 3P event. Notably, Kusale is coached by former shooter Deepali Deshpande, who is also the mentor of Arjun Babuta. Babuta, 25, narrowly missed out on a podium finish this time at the Olympics, as he finished fourth in the men's 10m air rifle event.
India can still bring more medals. Lakshya Sen will be playing his bronze-medal match in the badminton men's singles event against Malaysia's Lee Jii Zia.
Moreover, in another few days, Neeraj Chopra and Kishore Kumar Jena will be taking the track and field for the javelin events. Chopra is an Olympics gold medalist and Jena is an Asian Games silver medalist. Hopes are high from both of them.
Lastly, the Indian hockey team has now qualified for the semi-finals of the Paris Games. They will take on Germany tomorrow. If they win the game, they will surely be bringing a silver or a gold, bettering the results from the Tokyo edition, where they won a historic bronze.
