With only two days remaining for the Paris 2024 Olympics to kick off, the India contingent is gearing up for the showpiece event with full zeal and vigour. After reaching the French capitalist, the athletes left some heartfelt wishes for each other in the walls of their stay at Athlete's village, as they aim to surpass the tally of seven medals from the Tokyo Olympics.
India star shuttler PV Sindhu, table tennis stars Sreeja Akula and Manika Batra, and HS Prannoy- all were seen scribbling some words of luck and confidence for their fellow athletes ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympics Grand Opening.
The Indian Men's Hockey Team, badminton star Chirag Shetty, and boxer Lovlina Borgohain also joined in the bandwagon.
Indian contingent gear up for Paris 2024 Olympics at athlete's village
The Indian contingent of 117 athletes, which includes 70 men and 47 women, is now settling into the Olympic Village. These athletes will compete across 16 different sports, showcasing India's diverse talent.
Among them, 55 athletes have already arrived in Paris. The men’s hockey team, aiming for a podium finish yet again, has also touched down in Paris, ready to make an impact. The Indian boxing contingent, featuring Lovlina, Nikhat Zareen, and Nishant Dev have also reached the French capital ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Joining them in the athlete's village is India's formidable 21-member shooting squad, featuring talents like Manu Bhaker and Sift Kaur Samra, who are sharpening their skills at training facilities in the city. The Indian archery and table tennis teams have also arrived, eager to begin their Paris 2024 Olympics journey.
Two-time Olympic medalist, PV Sindhu and the dynamic men’s doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, all set to leave their mark on the games.
However, Neeraj Chopra, the defending gold medalist in men’s javelin throw, and leader of the 29-member athletics team, has yet to reach Paris. The athletics squad include athletes like Avinash Sable, competing in the men’s 3000m steeplechase, and Annu Rani, participating in the women’s javelin throw.
