PR Sreejesh and Manu Bhaker were India's flagbearers at the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics 2024. With that, the quadrennial event which commenced on July 26th, drew to a close. Manu Bhaker was India's first medalist in this edition of the Olympic Games. She won an individual bronze in the women's 10m air pistol event.

Post that, Bhaker teamed up with 22-year-old shooter Sarabjot Singh to participate in the mixed team 10m air pistol event. Sarabjot's final attempt helped Bhaker achieve another bronze medal. She narrowly missed out on another podium finish in the women's 25m air pistol event, ending up fourth on the table.

PR Sreejesh, on the other hand, has now earned a legendary status in Indian hockey. The 36-year-old took part in his fourth Olympic Games, a feat which was only previously achieved by Dhanraj Pillay. He won two medals in the process, the first coming in the form of a historic bronze at the Tokyo Games in 2021, while also pocketing a second bronze in the Paris Olympics this year.

India's medal tally at the Paris Olympics 2024

India's Paris Olympics journey was full of ups and downs. On one hand, where the country won six medals, numerous athletes narrowly missed out on a podium finish. Most notably, Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from the final of her event, in which she had already confirmed a silver medal.

After Bhaker and Singh, it was Swapnil Kusale who won a medal in the men's 50m 3P event. The Indian hockey team followed it up with another bronze.

India's golden boy Neeraj Chopra lived up to his lofty standards, bringing home a silver medal. 21-year-old Aman Sehrawat ended up winning a bronze medal to close it out for the nation.

Overall, the shooting contingent was the most successful with three medals.
