[In Pictures] Neeraj Chopra arrives at Paris Olympics village, writes an inspiring note for the Indian contingent
The moment every Indian fan was waiting for is here as defending men's javelin throw champion Neeraj Chopra arrived at the Paris Olympics village on Tuesday, July 30. This day has already been historic for India after Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh’s bronze medal in the mixed 10m air pistol event.
Now, Neeraj Chopra, Tokyo 2020 gold medalist in javelin throw, is also here in the French capital with an aim to defend his title and become the first Indian to win two gold medals at the Olympics.
In a social media post by We Are Team India, the official handle of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), Neeraj Chopra was seen at the Paris Olympics village writing an inspiring note for the Indian contingent competing at the 2024 Olympics.
“Look who’s here. @neeraj____chopra has arrived at the athletes village and has a message for his fellow athletes,” wrote IOA in the caption.
Neeraj’s inspiring words read:
“This is the time for the performance. Samay aa gaya hai India.”
When will Neeraj Chopra play at the Paris Olympics 2024?
There’s still a long wait for Neeraj Chopra to come into action at the Paris Olympics 2024. Although the athletics events will begin on August 1, the javelin throw will take place on August 6.
The javelin throw event will begin with the qualification rounds, where the players are divided into two groups, A and B. Following that, the final will take place on August 8.
Unfortunately, the qualification rounds will not be streamed live in India, but the final will be telecast live on Sports 18 channels and live-streamed on Jio Cinema. However, you can follow the live action of both rounds here on Sportskeeda.
Fans are expecting Neeraj Chopra to qualify for the final, secure the top podium finish once again, and raise the national flag high at the world’s biggest sporting event.
