Paris Olympics 2024 will be Sumit Nagal’s second appearance at the Summer Games.
During the Tokyo Olympics 2020, he made history by becoming the first Indian in 25 years and only the third Indian ever to reach the second round of the Olympics. In Tokyo, Nagal defeated Uzbekistan’s Denis Istomin in three sets before losing to Daniil Medvedev of the Russian Olympic Committee in straight sets.
Reflecting on his journey, Nagal expressed his excitement for the upcoming Olympics.
“One of my career highlights so far was participating in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Ever since then, Paris has been a big goal for me. Can’t wait to put my best foot forward,” added Nagal in his tweet.
Nagal will be the sole representative from India in the men’s singles tennis event at Paris 2024, and he aims to build on his past experiences and strive for a medal this time.
