India sets new Mixed 4x400m relay national record; misses Paris Olympics qualification mark
The Indian mixed 4x400m relay team consisting of M Anas Yahiya, Muhammed Ajmal V, Dandi Jyothika Sri, and Kiran Pahal created a new national record of 3:12.87s in the recently concluded edition of the National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championships 2024.
However, they missed out on securing a Paris Olympics spot, falling short by a few seconds. The previous national record was 3:14.12s, which was set on 20th May this year in Bangkok. The previous meet record was 3:21.40s, set in the last edition of the National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championships.
In pursuit of creating the national record, the India A team broke the meet record as well in Panchukla. Three other mixed 4x400 relay teams also broke the meet record.
India B, consisting of Santhosh T, Amoj Jacob, R Vithya Ramraj, and Subha Venkatesan, clocked a time of 3:14.22s to finish second in the race.
Sri Lanka and Kerala finished third and fourth, respectively, with a time of 3:18.18s and 3:18.49s. Both teams also got past last year's meet-record timing.
Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu team was three seconds short of breaking the meet record.
