Indian golf at Paris Olympics 2024: Venue, start and end dates, Indian contingent size
A four-member golf contingent will represent India at Paris Olympics 2024. On account of being among the top 60 athletes in the Olympic Golf Rankings, Aditi Ashok, Diksha Dagar, Shubhankar Sharma, Gaganjeet Bhullar made it to the Games.
Sharma was ranked 48th while Gaganjeet Bhullar was 54th in the men’s OGR list. Interestingly, both male golfers will be making their Olympic debut in Paris. Sharma reigned as the No. 1 player in Asia in 2018 and is a two-time winner on the European Tour. Meanwhile, Bhullar is a 11-time Asian Tour champion and clinched a silver medal in the 2006 Asian Games.
On the other hand, Ashok and Dagar finished 25th and 41st on the women's OGR list, respectively. Ashok missed the podium finish in Tokyo, as she finished fourth in the standings. Meanwhile, Dagar finished T-50 and will look to improve her performance in her second Olympic outing.
It will be interesting to see whether the experienced athletes will help India clinch their maiden Olympic medal in golf.
Golf venue for Paris Olympics 2024
Le Golf National will host the golf events of the Paris Olympics 2024. It is an 18-hole golf course with a capacity of around 80,000 spectators.
The oldest golf tournament in the European continent, Open de France is held every year at this venue.
