Indian golfers Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar set for a busy schedule ahead of the Paris Olympics 2024
Indian golfers Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar are taking part in the women’s Major, the Amundi Evian Championships, this week. The Indian duo will also play multiple high-profile events, including the Paris Olympics 2024 over the next six weeks.
Alongside the Paris Olympics 2024, Aditi and Diksha will also compete in the Women’s Scottish Open, a Ladies European Tour event, which is co-sanctioned with the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA).
While Aditi Ashok, who is been part of the LPGA currently in the US, plays Evian and AIG Women’s Open, Olympics, and the Women’s Scottish Open, Diksha Dagar plays seven events in eight weeks.
While Aditi Ashok is all set for her third Olympics after missing out on a medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, Diksha Dagar is set to play her second Games.
“She is becoming better at her game” - Diksha Dagar’s father Col Naren Dagar
Diksha Dagar is entering the Amundi Evian Championships on the back of a T-14 finish at the Aramco Series London and is looking for good signs of getting into a good form that propelled her to the third position on the LET order of Merit.
She is currently at 14th on the Order of Merit, accumulating three top-10s, four top-20s, and two top-25 finishes. Her father, Col Naren Dagar, who travels with Diksha stated that she is getting better at her game, mentally and physically.
"Since the time she made her debut on LET and won and then added a second win last year, she has had numerous close runs with more titles, including at her home event, the Hero Women's Indian Open. We feel that she is capable of winning more and in bigger events. She is becoming better at her game, has and has become stronger mentally and physically,” he said as quoted by ANI.
After the conclusion of the Evian Championships, Diksha will compete in the Dutch Ladies before heading to the Olympic Games. Later, she will participate in the Women's Scottish Open the AIG Women's Open, and the KPMG Irish Women's Open.
"This is one of the most important stretches in European Women's golf," he added.
On the other hand, Aditi Ashok has not had a top-10 finish in 2024 with her best being T-17 at the Meijer LPGA Classic this season. Having missed only four cuts in the 14 starts, many of her finishes this season have been on the lower half of the tally after the cut.
