Indian judo at Paris Olympics 2024: Venue, start and end dates, Indian contingent size

Tulika Maan will be the sole medal contender for India in judo at Paris Olympics 2024. She will participate in the women’s +78kg division.

Maan secured qualification to the Games through a continental quota. After amassing 1,345 ranking points during the qualification period from June 22, 2022 to June 23, 2024, she finished 36th in the world rankings.

Previously, the 25-year-old clinched a silver in the 2022 Commonwealth Games and was the bronze medalist in the 2023 Asian Open Championship. With impressive performances leading up to the Games, it will be interesting to see if Maan can win the maiden medal for the country in judo.

The Tokyo Olympics saw the participation from female judaka, Shushila Likmabam, who lost to Eva Csernoviczki by a scoreline of 10-0 in the Round of 32.


Judo venue for Paris Olympics 2024

The Grand Palais Éphémère in Champ de Mars will be hosting the judo events of the Paris Olympics. Apart from judo, wrestling events will also take place at this venue.

The 10,000 sqm hall was opened in 2021 and is set to be dismantled after the Games. It was under renovation for some time and was reopened on April 15 ahead of the global event.

The judo events in the Games will run from July 27 to August 3. Tulika Maan will be appearing on the mat on August 2.
