Indian men's hockey team leave for Switzerland for their final preparatory camp ahead of the Paris Olympics 2024
The Indian men's hockey team are all set for their final training camp in Switzerland for the Paris Olympics 2024. It will be a three-day camp for Craig Fulton’s men as they aim to build their mental strength ahead of a tough competition at the Games.
India are drawn in Pool B, which is potentially a Group of Death consisting of Argentina, Australia, Belgium, New Zealand, and Ireland.
Skipper of the Indian men's hockey team, Harmanpreet Singh, stated that the team was training at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) center in Bengaluru and are now on the way to Switzerland. They will then play Netherlands and Malaysia in practice matches before starting their Paris Olympics 2024 campaign.
“We just completed a grueling two-week camp in SAI Bengaluru, and after a short detour in Switzerland with Mike Horn, who is reputed for his extreme adventures that conquer his fears, the team will play some practice matches against the Netherlands and Malaysia to ensure we are in the best state of mind and body before we begin our Olympic journey. The team is in high spirits and is looking forward to the final block of training,” said Harmanpreet Singh.
“The best teams in the world will take part in the Paris 2024 Olympics” - Indian men's hockey team vice-captain Hardik Singh
Indian men's hockey team didn’t have a great outing at the FIH Pro League 2023/24. Vice-captain Hardik Singh acknowledged the same and mentioned that they have worked on the weaknesses and are now confident to take on the best teams at the Paris Olympics 2024.
“The team has prepared well so far, we identified areas that needed improvement from the London and Antwerp stages of FIH Pro League 2023/24 and worked on it in the training camp in SAI Bengaluru. The best teams in the world will take part in the Paris 2024 Olympics, but this squad is ready to seize the opportunity and bring glory to India. We are confident in our abilities and excited about the journey ahead," said Hardik Singh.
