"Indian shooters are biggest chokers" - Fans react to Indian shooters dismal performance on Day 1 of Paris Olympics 2024
Indian shooters suffered an elimination in the 10m air rifle mixed team in the qualifications stage at the Paris Olympics 2024 on Saturday, July 27. India went into the event with two teams - Ramita Jindal and Arjun Babuta formed one pair, while Sandeep Singh and Elavenil Valarivan formed the other pair.
The top four sides moved to the medal rounds, while the other sides faced elimination. The duo of Ramita and Arjun came so close but couldn’t be inside the top four, as they settled for the sixth rank at the end of the qualification round.

“India invests a lot in shooting. So general sentiment is obviously to win some medals..they haven't been able to win a single one since 2 Olympics,” wrote a fan on X.
“India has the QWR record of 635.8 points in mixed 10m rifle shooting. Still we were not able to qualify for top 4,” another fan wrote.
“And the story continues in Olympics and asiad for shooting...they grab silvers and golds in international events but always perform poorly in these events,” a user expressed his frustration.

How did the Indian shooters perform in the 10m air rifle mixed team in the qualifications stage
Babuta started off on a promising note, having a sequence of 10.5, 10.6, 10.5, and 10.9 while Ramita managed 10.2, 10.7, 10.3, and 10.1 in the second series to propel the side into the top eight. Eventually, they settled for the sixth rank with 628.7.
The other Indian pair of Elavenil Valarivan and Sandeep Singh managed to accumulate a total of 626.3 to end at the 12th rank.
The Chinese pair of Yuting Huang and Lihao Sheng and the Korean pair of Jihyeon Keum and Hajun Park qualified for the gold medal match. On the other hand, Kazakhstan and Germany made the cut for the bronze medal affair.
Later in the day, 10m air rifle and pistol qualifications will take place. Indian shooters would be aiming to turn things around.
