Indian swimming at Paris Olympics 2024: Venue, start and end dates, Indian contingent size
The two-member contingent is all set to represent India in swimming at Paris Olympics 2024. With no swimmers achieving the Olympic Qualification Time (OQT) or the Olympic Consideration Time (OCT), the Swimming Federation of India (SFI) secured two Universality Places.
SFI sent the names of the two-highest ranked male and female swimmers, Srihari Nataraj and 14-year-old, Dhinidhi Desinghu, respectively. Nataraj will be competing in the men’s 100m backstroke event, while Desinghu will vie for a medal in the women's 200m freestyle competition.
The Tokyo Olympics saw India enter with three participants and return with no medals. Nataraj finished 27th in Tokyo with a timing of 54.31s in the men’s 100m backstroke event, and will look to come up with an improved performance in the upcoming Games. Interestingly, three years ago another participant, Sajan Prakash had become the first Indian swimmer to gain an automatic qualification for the Olympics.
