The International Olympic Committee (IOC) awarded the prestigious Olympic Order to the legendary Abhinav Bindra at the 142nd IOC session in Paris. Bindra, one of the Indians to win an individual gold in the Olympics, was bestowed with the highest order, which rewards athletes who have contributed heavily to the Olympics over the years.

Bindra, who won the top prize in the men’s 10-meter Air Rifle event in shooting at the Beijing Games in 2008, was honored after being recognized for his efforts. He also gave his honor to the athletes who work for the holding the standards of the quadrennial event.

“This recognition is not just a personal milestone but a testament to the spirit of perseverance and dedication that sports instill in us all. I am deeply honored to be recognized by the IOC, and I dedicate this to all the athletes and sports enthusiasts who strive to uphold the Olympic ideals,” Bindra was quoted as saying in a media release.
