"Just Air Boxing" - Fans express their disappointment after Jaismine Lamboria's early exit from Paris Olympics 2024

Indian boxer Jaismine Lamboria faced an early exit from the Paris Olympics 2024 after suffering a defeat to the Philippines boxer Nesthy Petecio on July 30. Notably, Nesthy bagged the silver medal in the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 and entered the Paris Olympics 2024 as one of the top medal contenders in the women's 57 kg event.

Jaismine failed to create an impact throughout her bout, majorly doing air punching without landing any punch on her opponent. Eventually, Nesthy Petecio registered a 27- 30, 27- 30, 27- 30, 28-29, and 28-29 victory to make the cut for the Round of 16 bout.

Indian fans were disappointed to see the early exit of one of the promising boxers. Here are some reactions of fans on X (formerly Twitter).

“Jasmine couldn't even make Neshy Petecio flinch in all three rounds. Despite all of Jasmine's aggressive, frustrated punches, they did no harm Petecio, COOKED US. Winner by "unanimous decision," said the judges. Tough luck for #India , again in #Boxing,” one fan said.
“Didn't Understand ... What was Jasmine doing Just Air Boxing ? None of punches landed on the opponent ... So much defensive play,” another fan said.
"Nesthy Petecio was just so good here, total control of all the rounds. Her opponent Jaismine Lamboria from India barely landed a punch. Petecio is thru to the next round in the Womens 57kg. Congrats Nesthy,” a fan said.

One fan wondered why Indian boxers were so defensive at the Paris Olympics.

“Why Indian #Boxers are so defensive in #ParisOlympics2024 ? Almost like they are scared to attack, they are even scared to go closer to the opponent. Earlier Amit Panghal & now JAISMINE . She’s missing most of her punches. Terrible day in #Boxing for India @ #Paris2024,” a fan questioned Indian boxers’ approach.
“Not a Good Day for India In Boxing,” a fan said.
“Jaismine Lamboria loses to Nesthy Petecio 0-5. That was a very tough match for the Indian. She was up against a former World Champion and a medallist at Tokyo Olympics too,” another fan said.

Jaismine Lamboria and Amit Panghal suffer elimination

A total of six Indian boxers made the cut for Paris Olympics 2024 namely Jaismine Lamboria, Nikhat Zareen, Preeti Pawar, Lovlina Borgohain, Nishant Dev, and Amit Panghal.

Unfortunately, two boxers Jaismine Lamboria and Amit Panghal suffered defeats in early rounds to make an exit from the Summer Games in Paris.
