"Kit missing splashes of tricolour" - Fans react to Team India's official kit for Paris Olympics 2024
Team India's official kit for the Paris Olympics 2024 was released on Sunday, June 30. The launch event, which also served as a send-off event for the athletes, was attended by Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, and Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri.
The kit is now also on sale for the fans to purchase.
The kits received widespread attention and garnered positive comments as well as criticism.
One user wrote:
"Ceremonial dress looks good, could've added another option along with saree. The playing kit is missing splashes of our tricolour maybe."
Another fan expressed his opinion on how the jersey was possibly remodelled from the Hangzhou Asian Games' kit. He wrote:
"They remodelled the Asian Games kit. Looks average to me."
Another user expressed his desire to see Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty bring home the gold medal.
He wrote:
"Men in blue , pair on mission @Shettychirag04 @satwiksairaj Olympic 🥇 , let's do it, that last dance in Olympics. Eagerly waiting."
Another fan highlighted how India's kit was not even close, in terms of aesthetics, to that of the USA and Great Britain. He wrote:
"USA,GBR ka jersey cool lagta hai lekin India waisa jersey nahi bana pata hai."
Here are some other reactions:
"Will we ever get a jersey that is actually sporty in looks?" one fan questioned.
"Asian games jersey much better cant believe the down grade man," the post read.
Team India at Paris Olympics 2024
The Indian athletes are preparing to better their Tokyo tally at the Paris Olympics. Like the previous edition, Neeraj Chopra will be a part of this showpiece event and among the top contenders to win the Javelin gold medal. The Indian hockey team will face tough competition in their pool as they will have to take on Belgium and Australia.
The boxing squad has meanwhile travelled to Saarbrucken, Germany, to set up a training camp for the upcoming Games. The table tennis contingent has an outside chance of bringing home an Olympic medal, something they haven't achieved yet. PV Sindhu also hopes to return to form after her injury and the Paris Games are the perfect platform.
Meanwhile, a first for India comes in the form of Anush Agarwalla, who will represent the country in Equestrian's dressage event. India have previously featured in Equestrian at the Summer Games but this will be their maiden ply in dressage.
The Paris Olympics start on July 26.
