Lakshya Sen family: All you need to know about ace shuttler’s family
Indian badminton star Lakshya Sen belongs to a family of sportspersons. His grandfather Chander Lal played badminton at the national level. Lakshya’s father Dhirendra Kumar Sen was his first coach back in 2010 when he was taking baby steps in the world of badminton. Lakshya’s elder brother Chirag has also played for the Indian team.
Last year in December, Chirag came out of the shadows of his brother and won the trophy in the Senior National Championships that took place in Guwahati. He defeated T Tharun, the fourth seed, 21-14, 13-21, 21-9. He has also taken part in Asia Championships, Odisha Masters, Guwahati Masters, and other tournaments.
Chirag has also praised his brother for helping him out and supporting him through thick and thin in his journey. While Lakshya has been exceptional at the world level, Chirag is still struggling to make a name for himself among the big boys of the badminton world.
Lakshya Sen makes history for India in Paris Olympics
Lakshya Sen has been amongst the most prolific badminton players from India. He has come up the ranks while training at the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy in Bangalore.
Back in the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022, he won the gold medal. In the Paris Olympics, he gave himself a chance to win a medal. He became the first Indian man to advance to the semi-final of a badminton event in the history of the quadrennial event.
Had he won, he would also have joined PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal among the ones to have won badminton medals for India in the Olympics. However, he lost to Denmark’s Viktor Axelsen in the semis despite being in the driver’s seat in both games. He lost his bronze-medal match to Lee Zii Jia of Malaysia as well and lost a chance to bring India a medal.
