Preeti Pawar storms into the Paris 2024 Olympics pre-quarterfinals with dominating victory
Despite her tender years, Indian boxer, Pawar showed experience and maturity at her debut Olympic Games as she handled Vietnam’s Vo Thi Kim Anh with ease despite a slow start in the Round of 32 match at the North Paris Arena.
Despite the Vietnamese boxer being more aggressive and throwing a higher number of punches, Preeti showed her physical and mental strength and won the match without any trouble.
Pawar will now face the Colombian second-seeded boxer Yeni Arias Castaneda in the next round.
World Championships silver medalist Arias, who previously represented her nation at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, will prove to be a stern test for Pawar as she aims to become only the third Indian female boxer to win a medal at the Olympic Games.
The Round of 16 match between Pawar and Arias for the Paris 2024 Olympics women’s 54 kg event will take place on Tuesday.
