Manu Bhaker, Sarabjot Singh, Swapnil Kusale felicitated by NRAI for medal-winning performances at Paris 2024 Olympics
Indian sport shooters Manu Bhaker, Sarabjot Singh, and Swapnil Kusale, who clinched three bronze medals from the recently concluded Paris 2024 Olympics, were felicitated by the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) on Friday.
The NRAI, which is India’s national governing body of sport shooting, felicitated the 21 sport shooters who represented the country in Paris 2024 with mementoes. The medal-winning shooters were awarded a cash prize.
“Our shooters and coaches and the entire support staff have done the country proud. They have proven that they are second to none in this sport, which is no mean achievement. They deserve all the accolades and awards that they are getting and we are confident that this performance will herald a new wave of shooting talent from across India,” NRAI’s officiating president Kalikesh Singh Deo said.
Several high-profile dignitaries were present in the felicitation ceremony, including the Olympic Council of Asia president Raja Randhir Singh, former Olympians Vijay Kumar and Gagan Narang, former double trap world champion Ranjan Sodhi, former winter Olympian Shiva Keshavan, and others.
Former Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president Narinder Dhruv Batra and IOA Senior Vice President Ajay Patel were also in attendance, as were several former and current ministers in central and state governments.
Manu Bhaker, Sarabjot, and Swapnil awarded cash prizes by NRAI
The NRAI awarded the medal-winning Indian shooters in the Paris 2024 Olympics, Sarabjot Singh, Manu Bhaker, and Swapnil Kusale, with cash prizes on Friday.
For winning India’s first bronze medal in the quadrennial tournament at the women’s 10m air pistol event as well as being one half of the pair that won the bronze medal at the 10m air pistol mixed team event, Manu Bhaker was awarded a sum of ₹45 lakh by the NRAI.
Sarabjot Singh, the other half of the team alongside Manu Bhaker that won the mixed team bronze medal, Sarabjot Singh was awarded a sum of ₹15 lakh. Rifle shooter Swapnil Kusale, who won a bronze medal in the men’s 50m rifle three positions event, was awarded ₹30 lakh.
The support staff accompanying the players were also awarded ₹5 lakh each by the NRAI.
