Manu Bhaker shuts down critics over her display of Paris Olympics 2024 medals

Indian shooting sensation Manu Bhaker recently addressed social media trolls, who criticized her for proudly showcasing her medals from the Paris 2024 Olympics. Bhaker, who emerged as one of India's standout performers at the Games, winning two bronze medals in shooting, has been a symbol of national pride since her return from Paris.

Despite receiving widespread love and recognition, Bhaker was targeted by a section of social media users, who suggested that she stop flaunting her medals now that it’s been over a month since the Paris Olympics 2024 concluded.

In response, Bhaker took to social media to clarify her stance, saying her medals are not just personal achievements but a source of pride for the entire country.

"The two bronze medals I won at the Paris 2024 Olympics belong to India," Bhaker wrote in her post. "Whenever I am invited for any event and asked to show these medals, I do it with pride. This is my way of sharing my beautiful journey."

Manu Bhaker becomes the first Indian female shooter to win an Olympic medal

Manu Bhaker's performance at the Paris Olympics 2024 was one for the history books. With her bronze in women’s 10m air pistol, Bhaker became the first Indian female shooter to win a medal at the Olympics.

The 22-year-old added another medal to her tally with a bronze in the 10m air pistol mixed event alongside Sarabjot Singh. With this, she achieved the rare distinction of being the first Indian athlete post-independence to secure multiple medals in a single Olympic Games.

The Indian contingent ended with six medals in Paris, with Manu Bhaker winning two. Such was the impact and importance of her performance at the Games. Thus, during the closing ceremony, Bhaker was given the honor of being the flag bearer for India alongside hockey veteran PR Sreejesh.
