Mission Olympic Cell approves proposals of multiple para athletes ahead of Paris Paralympics 2024
Sports Ministry’s Mission Olympic Cell (MOC) has approved the equipment and financial assistance proposals of multiple para athletes ahead of the forthcoming Paris Paralympics, scheduled to start on August 28.
During its meeting on Thursday, July 11, MOC approved a financial assistance proposal for Paralympic Table Tennis medallist Bhavina Patel to participate in the ITTF Para Table Tennis Asia Training Camp 2024 in Thailand. She would be attending the camp from July 16 to 20 accompanied by her coach and escort.
Additionally, MOC also approved requests of para shooters namely Manish Narwal, Rudranksh Khandelwal, Rubina Francis & Sriharsha R Devareddy for sport shooting-related equipment.
Sriharsha has requested for Air Rifle while Rubia proposed for Morini Pistol. Meanwhile, Sandeep Choudhary requested assistance with the procurement of two Javelins (Valhalla 800g Medium NXB and Diana Carbon 600g).

Furthermore, Paris Olympics-bound archers Ankita Bhakat, and Deepika Kumari and para-archers Sheetal Devi and Rakesh Kumar requested financial assistance for the procurement of archery equipment and it was approved by the Mission Olympic Cell (MOC).
Also, the overseas training proposal of Judoka Tulika Maan has been approved. She will travel alongside her coach and train at Valencia Judo High-Performance Centre, Spain till July 25.
Moreover, the Indian paddler Manush Shah’s request for financial aid to train in Gyeonggi Do, South Korea under the guidance of Korean Coach Taejun Kim and for procurement of physical fitness equipment was approved by the MOC.
Also, the Mission Olympic Cell confirmed the inclusion of race walkers Suraj Panwar, and Vikash Singh, long-distance runner Ankita Dhyani, and swimmer Dhindi Desinghu in the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) group.
On the other hand, long jumper Jeswin Aldrin, triple jumper Praveen Chithravel, Akashdeep Singh, and Paramjeet Singh have been promoted from TOPS Development to Core Group.
Notably, a few days after the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) announced the 28-member athletics contingent for the forthcoming Paris Olympics 2024, long jumper Jeswin Aldrin and long-distance runner Ankita Dhyani have made the cut for the quadrennial event through the World Athletics rankings system after eallocations.
