Nikhat Zareen ready to leave a mark on her Olympic debut

Nikhat Zareen’s journey to the Paris 2024 Olympics has been impressive and the buzz around her Olympic debut highlights her dedication and hard work.. She secured her Olympic spot and guaranteed herself a medal at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou with a decisive quarter-final win over Jordan's Hanan Nazar.

Competing in the women’s 50kg category, Zareen showed her exceptional skills and strategic prowess. In the round of 16, she faced Chorong Bak from the Republic of Korea, winning the bout by unanimous decision and advancing to the quarterfinals. Nikhat has lost just two bouts since she rose to fame in 2022.

She is on a winning spree in 2024, having won silver at the Strandja Memorial and gold at the Elorda Cup in May, followed by victory in the Czech Republic's Grand Prix.

However, India’s hopes in boxing aren’t solely resting on Nikhat Zareen. Lovlina Borgohain, who won a bronze medal in Tokyo, is also a strong contender. Both athletes are part of India’s broader goal to surpass their previous Olympic medal tally of seven, achieved at the Tokyo 2020 Games.
