No issue with Neeraj Chopra’s adductor, confirms coach Klaus Bartonietz ahead of Paris Olympics 2024

Reigning Olympic champion in javelin throw, Neeraj Chopra has recovered from an adductor niggle that has troubled him over the past few months, according to his German coach Klaus Bartonietz. Neeraj is now undergoing high-intensity training sessions ahead of the Paris Olympics, scheduled to start on July 26.

Notably, Bartonietz has been coaching Chopra for close to five years, and he is currently in Antalya, Turkiye, as part of preparations for the Summer Games with the legendary thrower.

“Everything is according to plan. At the moment, no issue with that (adductor niggle), it’s fine, it looks good, hoping to remain like that till the Olympics,” Klaus told PTI.
“It’s just over two weeks left in the Olympics, so the intensity of training is high. He is having full throwing sessions,” he added.
“We have sessions of sprinting, jumping or throwing or weightlifting alternately for activation in the morning. Two sessions, one in morning and one in evening, two to two-and-a-half-hour long each,” Bartonietz further said about Chopra’s training routine.

Neeraj Chopra scripted history after clinching the gold medal with an 87.58m throw in his second attempt at the Tokyo Olympics, emerging as the first Indian to secure gold in athletics and the first post-independence Indian Olympic medalist in athletics.

Neeraj will be hoping to defend his title at the Stade de France in the men’s javelin throw. The qualifiers have been scheduled for August 6, while the final will take place on August 8
