Olympic flag arrives in Los Angeles after Paris Olympics 2024
The Olympic flag arrived in Los Angeles ahead of the 2028 edition. Over the last two weeks, the Paris Olympics 2024 kept fans on the edge of their seats thanks to cut-throat competition in several sports. The United States became the most successful team with 126 medals (40 gold, 44 silver, and 42 bronze).
China finished second with 91 medals (40 gold, 27 silver and 24 bronze). Japan, Australia, France, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Korea, Italy, and Germany also performed well in the quadrennial event. The Olympics ended after the closing ceremony took place on Sunday, August 11.
After the flag reached Los Angeles, the official ‘X’ of the Olympic Games made the announcement. Members of the American contingent were also present.
“The Olympic Flag has arrived in Los Angeles! #LA28@LA28,” wrote Olympic Games.
How did India perform in the Paris Olympics 2024?
India had a lot to look forward to in the Paris Olympics as they had sent a contingent of 117 members. India opened their medals tally after Manu Bhaker won bronze in the women’s 10-meter Air Rifle event. She followed it up with another bronze in the team event along with Sarabjot Singh.
Swapnil Kusale won India’s third medal, also India’s third in shooting. The Indian hockey team, led by Harmanpreet Singh, bagged the bronze after beating Spain 2-1 in the third-place playoff match. Veteran goalkeeper PR Sreejesh, who earlier announced her retirement from international hockey, won his second Olympic medal after the one in Tokyo.
Neeraj Chopra failed to defend his crown but won the silver medal in men’s javelin with a best throw of 89.45 meters. Aman Sehrawat, India’s only male wrestler in Paris, won bronze.
Mirabai Chanu and Lovlina Borgohain, who both won medals in Tokyo, fell short of finishing on the podium. Vinesh Phogat also had a chance of winning a medal but was disqualified before her gold-medal bout.
