Olympics 2024 Opening Ceremony Time in India: What time will the opening ceremony be held in Paris in IST?

The 2024 Paris Olympics is set to get underway this week, with India sending as many as 117 athletes to compete at the event. The squad consists of 70 male and 47 female athletes, who will take part in 16 sports disciplines.

Besides them, 140 support staff and officials are also set to be in the French capital to ensure that the athletes are well taken care of. The top three sports by Indian representation are athletics (29), shooting (21), and hockey (19).

Before the Summer Games get underway, a glitzy and glamorous opening ceremony has been planned for July 26 (Friday), which will allow everyone to discover the culture of the country where the Games are taking place.

Security has also been beefed up ahead of the event. More than 45,000 police are set to be deployed to ensure a smooth flow of all operations. It has also been reported that special intervention forces and snipers could be deployed along the route for additional security.


What time is the Opening Ceremony in Paris?

For the first time in the Olympic Games history, the opening ceremony will not be held in a stadium. Instead, dozens of boats are set to carry all the athletes and performers on a 6-kilometer floating parade on the River Seine.

The opening ceremony is scheduled to begin at 11pm IST (7.30pm local time) on July 26 and is expected to last around four hours. It will begin at Austerlitz Bridge and pass through iconic landmarks like Notre Dame and the Louvre before ending at Trocadero.

The Games will then be officially declared open after lighting the Olympic cauldron.

Arrangements have been made for as many as 600,000 fans to watch the Opening Ceremony live in Paris. Others can catch all the action from the comfort of their homes.

In India, Viacom18 has the media rights to broadcast the Paris Olympics and fans can watch the whole event live on the Sports 18 network. It will also be streamed live on the Jio Cinema app and website.
