“One more medal awaits in shooting” - Fans hopeful as Arjun Babuta qualifies for 10m air rifle final

Indian rifle shooter Arjun Babuta clinched a spot in the men’s 10m air rifle final at the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024. He finished at the seventh rank in the qualification round on Sunday, July 28.

The Fazilka-born shooter Arjun Babuta shot a series of scores - 105.7, 104.9, 105.5, 105.4, and 104.6 to qualify for the final of the men’s 10m air rifle event. Eventually, he scored a total of 630.1 to end at the seventh rank.

Notably, he missed out on the final berth in the mixed 10m air rifle team event with Ramita Jindal on Saturday, July 27. Interestingly, both Arjun and Ramita secured their respective spots in the individual events on Sunday.

“One more medal awaits in shooting tomorrow as Arjun Babuta entered into the 10 m air rifle final,” a fan wrote on X.
"And congrats to Arjun Babuta as he scores 630.1 to enter the final of 10m Air Rifle Men 👏👏👏. Another Indian shooter in the final,” another user wrote.
“I had completely forgotten about the 10m men’s air rifle qualification, but it seems Arjun Babuta has qualified for the finals there,” another user stated.
“While the world is focused on Manu Bhakar for doing what we missed for 12 years, Arjun Babuta has made it to the finals of the Men 10 m Air Rifle event. Tomorrow, we will be having two more medal matches for Shooting,” an excited fan wrote.
“While all focus is on Manu (and rightly so), let's also shine a light on Arjun Babuta, who has qualified for the Final of the 10m Air Rifle. Arjun finished 7th in Qualification | Final is scheduled for tomorrow at 1530 hrs IST,” another user had his say.
“Shooters are thriving! Arjun Babuta is the latest entrants in the final,” wrote a hopeful fan expecting another medal.

Arjun Babuta is the third Indian shooter to make it to the final in Paris

Arjun Babuta emerged as the third Indian shooter to qualify for the final of shooting competitions in the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024. While Manu Bhaker secured her spot in the women’s 10m air pistol final and clinched bronze eventually, Ramita Jindal made the cut to the final of the women’s 10m air rifle event.

There were a couple of setbacks, though. Sandeep Singh ended his Paris campaign at 12th while Elavenil Valarivan finished 10th in the men's and women’s sections, respectively.
