Paris 2024 Olympics Javelin Throw: Neeraj Chopra vs Keshorn Walcott head-to-head record
London Olympics 2012 gold medalist and Rio Olympics 2016 bronze medalist Trinbagonian javelin thrower Keshorn Walcott will be up against reigning Olympic champion from India, Neeraj Chopra, on Thursday, August 8, in the men’s javelin throw final at Paris Olympics 2024.
Walcott settled for the sixth rank in the Group A qualification round of the men's javelin throw, covering a distance of 83.02m with his throw. Though he started the qualification round with an unimpressive 74.89m throw in his first attempt, he bettered it with 83.02m in his second attempt.
In his third and final attempt, he managed to throw 82.57m. In the overall rankings (Group A and Group B combined), Walcott secured the 11th spot out of 12 athletes who qualified for the final.
Meanwhile, Neeraj Chopra clinched an impressive throw of 89.34m, his season best, to top the overall rankings. He was part of Group B in the qualification round. He would be a hot favorite to defend his gold medal at Stade de France in the grand finale.
At the Stockholm Diamond League in 2022, Neeraj Chopra achieved his personal best throw of 89.94m. However, he is yet to surpass the 90m mark and would be hoping to create his personal best in the grand finale.
