Paris 2024 Olympics: Sharath Kamal, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Rohan Bopanna meet each other ahead of the Games

As the Indian contingent settles at the Paris 2024 Olympics Village, the racquet sports stars of India – table tennis player A Sharath Kamal, badminton player Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, and tennis player Rohan Bopanna posed for a photograph together.

In a social media post by a fan account, the three sporting aces stood side by side at the Olympic Village in Paris, days before the Paris 2024 Games are set to start.

The trio are a part of the 117-member strong Indian contingent taking part in this year’s summer Olympic Games, which will start on July 26.


Sharath Kamal, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, and Rohan Boppana to lead Indian medal push at Paris Olympics 2024

The trio of Sharath Kamal, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, and Rohan Boppana will be key players in India’s push for Olympic glory in Paris.

Sharath Kamal is one of the poster boys of India’s Olympic contingent and will be the official flag bearer of the country in Paris. His appearance at the Paris 2024 Olympics will be his fifth Olympic appearance and his final as well.

At Paris, Sharath will look to add an Olympic medal to his collection, which already has 10 Commonwealth Games medals.

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy has been India’s top prospect in badminton in recent times, His partnership with Chirag Shetty has brought several laurels and records to India, including the 2022 Asian Games gold medal. The pair have also won the BWF World Super 750 title in the 2022 French Open, as well as the 2023 Swiss Open and Korea Open titles.

Veteran tennis player Rohan Bopanna will be the oldest member of the Indian contingent in Paris. The 44-year-old has aged like fine wine and became the world’s oldest ATP No. 1 ranked doubles player in January. He would hope to end his Olympic career with a bang by winning India’s first Olympic medal in tennis since Leander Paes in 1996.
