Paris 2024 Olympics: What is Amoj Jacob's personal best in men's 4x400m relay?
Amoj Jacob will be one of the six Indian athletes participating in the men's 4x400m relay at the Paris Olympics 2024. He will take the field on Friday (August 9) in the qualification round of the Games.
Jacob's personal best came at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest in August 2023. He and his teammates, Muhammed Anas Yahiya, Muhammed Ajmal and Rajesh Ramesh, finished second in their respective heat with a timing of 2:59.05 to set up a new national as well as the Asian record. However, they went on to finish fifth in the final round.
When talking about his personal best in 400m, Jacob has a timing of 45.68, which he achieved in the Federation Cup, Patiala, in 2021.
Notably, Jacob shattered the national record at the Tokyo Olympics as well, finishing with a timing of 3:00.25 in the men's 4x400m relay event. However, the group missed out on a podium finish, as they finished fourth. Interestingly, apart from this competition, the 26-year-old had all gold medal finishes in 400m events and a couple of 4x400m relay participations in all national tournaments in 2021.
Then, Jacob continued his good form in 2022, securing the yellow metal in three events in the 400m event. Although he and the group finished second in the heats, they went on to finish sixth at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham with a timing of 3:05.51.
2023 proved to be another successful year for Amoj Jacob as he won gold in the men's 4x400m relay and a gold in the mixed relay event at the Asian Athletics Championships in Bangkok.
Interestingly, Jacob ended the year on a high by winning the gold medal at the Asian Games, with a timing of 3:01.58 in the men's 4x400m relay event. The same trio of Muhammed Anas Yahiya, Muhammed Ajmal and Rajesh Ramesh were his teammates in the event.
